Rupert Murdoch, Shimon Peres, and Charlton Heston!

Shimon Peres, the President of Israel is a fake character.  He is played by the actor known as Charlton Heston.  You may have heard of him?  Michael McKean/John Ritter plays the role of Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corporation.  That's right, John Ritter isn't dead, only the character is...

At the age of 89, Peres is the world's oldest de jure head of state.   He appeared on the Israeli political scene as far back as 1959, serving various functions, but did not assume the presidency until June 13, 2007, presumably acting out his little charade with his fellow actors posing as the real Israeli government.  I don't think there is a real government in Israel...

Rupert Murdoch considered himself so ultra-religious, that he remembers smashing his parents' radio because they were listening to it on the Sabbath!  He started his news empire in Australia and New Zealand in the 50's and 60's (Wikipedia is surprisingly vague on this), by acquisition after acquisition, finally gobbling up the Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal in 2007.

Murdoch has interfered in the politics of every country where his company has eaten up all the media.  On 21 July 2012, Murdoch resigned as a director of News International.  I wonder if his duties as President of Israel were getting in the way of acquiring more news outlets?
